Job Discription

  • The Marine Mechanical/ Piping Engineer will support our client MD2 in the following areas:
  • Provide Performance Management and timely status reporting for the MD2 FPU Marine Systems and Hull Piping Systems Detailed Design and provide Feedback to the Marine Systems Lead on the following:
  • Schedule
  • EPC and associated subcontractor performance
  • Current Status
  • Areas of Concerns
  • Provide input to the MD2 FPU Marine and Hull Piping Systems Detailed Design and review key documents as defined in the Master Document Register.
  • Ensure the MD2 FPU Marine and Hull Piping Systems Detailed Design is in accordance with the FPU and Company requirements, specifications and standards.
  • Review and verify compliance with USCG Regulation and ABS Classification Rules relating to Marine and Hull Piping Systems
  • Review and provide status on Marine Hazard identification and management
  • Reviews MD2 Marine and Hull Piping Systems design to verify overall design meets our clients expectation on safety and operability
  • Ensure that any deviations to MD2 FPU Regulatory and/or Company requirements, specifications and standards is captured and documented appropriately
  • Provide timely resolution of technical issues
  • Review Marine and Hull Piping Systems equipment packages / purchases and evaluation and compliance with requirements
  • Attend Factory acceptance testing as required
  • Provide Interfaces / Coordination with other MD2 FPU disciplines (Structural, Topsides, Controls & Instrumentation, Electrical, etc.)
  • Review and assure / enhance Marine and Hull Piping Systems constructability by staying involved with the EPC
  • Review / Accept Marine Operations procedures and manuals and Hull Piping Systems
  • Review Marine and Hull Piping Systems commissioning procedures and testing of HVAC systems
  • Support the Marine Systems Lead in the Co-ordination of Marine Related FPU milestone events; Incline Test, Quarters Habitable, COI, etc.
  • Provide Technical verification and Marine Operational verification to the following:
  • Marine Systems (Ballast, Bilge, Mooring, Fire Water, Utilities etc.)
  • Process Control System (PCS) with regard to Marine/Safety Systems Life Saving/Fire Fighting Appliances and Equipment (Lifeboats, Firefighting Eq. etc.)
  • Marine Operations Manual and Marine Systems Operating Procedures
  • Regulatory demonstrations and compliance verification
  • Minimum of 10 years of design, construction and commissioning of Marine and Hull Piping Systems with specific emphasis for offshore GoM applications
  • Knowledge of all relevant industry codes, standards and regulations associated with marine systems
  • Demonstrated and Working Knowledge of USCG, ABS Classification and all other regulatory
  • requirements for US GoM and compliance verification is essential
  • Knowledge of internal our client criteria, standards and technical practices
  • Knowledge of Marine and Hull Piping Systems design principles
  • Effective in working within a multi-discipline / cross cultural team setting with multiple demands and priorities: experience in working with construction and/or operations is desirable

Personal Specification

The Mad Dog 2 field is a deep water Gulf of Mexico discovery located in Green Canyon, block 781, 825 and 870. Mad Dog 2 is Floating Production Unit (FPU), column stabilized semisubmersible offshore facility intended for production of hydrocarbons at the Mad Dog 2 field. The FPU has an overall basic division between Hull and Topsides. The Mechanical Marine / Piping Engineer primarily will be responsible for Execute Stage deliverables associated with the Hull with and will support the interface role to Topsides. The role of the Marine Mechanical/ Piping Engineer is to support MD2 Hull design by performance management of engineering delivery for the Execute Stage scope from the EPC Contractor. The Marine Mechanical/ Piping Engineer verifies deliverables are consistent with safe, cost effective, compliant and conforms to the Projects OMS, MPcp, Regulatory and our clients codes and standards. The Marine Mechanical/ Piping Lead will report to the Marine Systems Lead located at the engineering/fabrication site for the Hull
